RedBOND Composites has become the first European manufacturer in its sector to achieve Carbon Neutrality certification, effectively meaning the company emits zero net CO2 into the atmosphere.
The Carbon Neutrality certification is a further step in the Sustainability Plan that RedBOND has been implementing in recent years, representing a fundamental pillar of the corporate strategy of Alibérico. This vision materializes daily in all Group factories through a concerted effort aiming for carbon neutrality; the decarbonization of manufacturing processes; the reduction of the environmental impact of its activities; the recyclability of its products; and the use of renewable energy.
Precisely, Alibérico's commitment to sustainability has recently materialized in its Iberfoil Integra project, a benchmark for the circular economy in Spain that commenced operations a few days ago in Sabiñánigo (Huesca).
RedBOND, the first factory within Alibérico to achieve Carbon Neutrality certification, already became in 2022 the first manufacturer of composite panels to obtain the ZERO WASTE certificate, accrediting that more than 94% of the company's generated waste is recycled and converted back into raw materials, promoting the circular economy model and zero pollution. This certificate was successfully renewed in 2023, maintaining its commitment to the green and sustainable industry. In addition, the company has its own solar plant, contributing to 20% of its consumption.
Aside from audits by companies such as AENOR to verify its sustainability, RedBOND has also obtained certifications from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, including "Calculate, Reduce, and Offset"; the latter corresponding to the highest level, scope 1+2. 
Pioneering action in the sector
The Carbon Neutrality certification achieved by RedBOND and issued in November by AENOR means that the company has offset its calculated and verified CO2 emissions according to the requirements of the GHG Protocol. The offsetting has been certified according to PAS 2060:2014, the most internationally recognized standard developed by the prestigious British Standards Institution, a member of ISO (International Organization for Standardization).
An essential element in RedBOND Composites' progress toward carbon neutrality has been its participation in various offset projects, such as the Galicia Offset Project, where 56,244 trees have been planted on a total surface area of 229 Ha located in different areas of the Monte de Paradela de Bermol, affected by a devastating fire in 2017.
The acquisition of the Carbon Neutrality Certificate from AENOR gives RedBOND added value and represents a differentiating element in the market for the company. It is also the result of a continuous effort by the entire team to reduce our environmental impact, which is now 100% neutral, declares María González Armero, manager of RedBOND Composites.
