84.2% of users declare a preference for the pneumatic waste collection system over the traditional one, based on containers in the streets and trucks.

Residents of the Ecobarrio de Vallecas, the first within the city of Madrid to have a pneumatic waste collection system, have been surveyed by the demoscopic company Sigma 2 about their satisfaction with it, one year after the start of its operations, and the result obtained has been overwhelming approval of this model, with an average rating of 7.6 points on a scale of 0 to 10.

The features of the pneumatic system most valued by users are its comfort and speed; the solution it provides to the problem of full containers, which forces leaving garbage on the street, and the improvement of public spaces and greater cleanliness.

From the Sigma 2 study, it also emerges the majority preference of residents for the pneumatic system over the traditional one based on depositing waste in containers for later collection by trucks. In fact, 84.2% of users declare a preference for the pneumatic collection system over the traditional one.

According to users, the pneumatic collection system is less harmful to the environment and emits less CO2 (as considered by 90.8% of users); generates less inconvenience (93.4% think this way); contributes more to freeing up public spaces and creating a cleaner and more pleasant urban environment (94.1%) and is more comfortable (82.9%).

When asked about the type of collection system they would like to have if they were to change their residence, 86.8% opted for the pneumatic waste collection system.

Furthermore, 88.6% of respondents would like their Municipal Government to consider installing the pneumatic collection system if they don't have it. This preference was expressed even more unanimously by the age group between 18 and 29 years old (in this segment, affirmative answers reached 92.6%) and by the group aged 30 to 44 years old (95.6%).
