Fira de Barcelona launches the 20th edition of the Construmat Awards which, in its 2024 call, and curated by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, will recognize projects that stand out for their commitment to sustainability, the main thematic axis of the event.

On the occasion of the 23rd edition of Construmat, which will take place from May 21st to 23rd at the Gran Via venue, the management of the fair and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, an internationally renowned institution for research, debate, and dissemination of architectural culture, renew their collaboration agreement to organize the Construmat Awards.

In 2024, these awards will recognize the work of those teams, individuals, and companies, consulting firms, developers, industrialists, and professionals who, through their works, contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to implement the United Nations' 2030 Agenda. Therefore, national and international buildings completed between 2019 and 2023 that are examples of architectural excellence and benchmarks for environmental sustainability will be awarded.

The works competing for the awards will be previously nominated by an expert committee composed of representatives from institutions, organizations, or associations both Spanish and international linked to the promotion of sustainability in architecture. This committee includes the Associació d'Arquitectes per la Sostenibilitat (AuS-COAC), the Asociación Sostenibilidad y Arquitectura (ASA), the Green Building Council España (GBCe), Bauhaus-Earth, and L'Architecture d'Aujord'hui (AA).

Jury and audience award

A jury of recognized prestige, both professional and academic, in the field of practice and research in sustainable architecture, will select the winning project among the nominees. Additionally, in this edition, a new award will be given to the work chosen by the public.

The award ceremony for the Construmat Awards will take place on May 22nd as part of the salon's activities.
